Tibet's industrial added value up 13% in 2009

Tibet's industrial added value reached 3.27 billion yuan(479 million U.S. dollars)in 2009, up 12.9 percent year on year, according to a gazette of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Bureau of Statistics.

The enterprises above the designated size (their annual sales revenue exceeding five million yuan) had an added value of 2.76 billion yuan in 2009, a 10.8 percent rise over the previous year. Their profits totaled 563 million yuan in 2009, a 4.9 percent rise.

The State-owned enterprises and enterprises with their shares controlled by the State reported an added value of 1.37 billion yuan last year, up 12.2 percent. They made a total profit of 107 million yuan in 2009, a 7.6-fold surge.

The enterprises above the designated size turned out 1.88 million tons of cement and 1.8 billion kwh of electricity, rising 14.9 percent and 12.5 percent respectively. They also produced 1,319 tons of traditional Tibetan medicines, a 5.4 percent increase.
