Number of birds at Qinghai Lake to reach 100,000 in May

Reporters learned from the Qinghai Lake Natural Reserve Administration that the number of birds at the Qinghai Lake area has increased and will reach 100,000 in April and May.

The Qinghai Lake Natural Reserve Administration conducted a six-day survey between March 29 and April 3, and found 38,900 birds belonging to 30 species. The number of birds at Qinghai Lake will gradually increase with the warmer weather and the melting snow.

March is the migration season for different species of birds, and birds such as the bar-headed geese, cormorants, brown-headed gulls, Pallas's gulls, ducks, blacked-necked cranes and whooper swans will return to the lake for breeding in April and May. After that, the number of birds at the lake will reach 100,000.
