China, India should reduce "trust deficit"
16:24, April 08, 2010

Jairam Ramesh, India's minister of state for environment and forests and author of the"China-India"concept, said candidly and earnestly during his meeting with Chinese reporters that China and India should reduce their"trust deficit."He also stressed that their all-round cooperation between the two large developing nations would be the"1+1=3"instead of"1+1=2". "We need more in-depth mutual understanding and more people-to-people communications,"he said.

The year 2010 is the 60 anniversary of the forging of Sino-Indian diplomatic ties. India's External Affairs Minister SM Krishna is on a four-day official visit to China this week; he also inaugurated "Festival of India" in the Palace Museum in downtown Beijing to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two Asian powers.

On Minister Krishna's current trip to China, notes the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman,"his visit will be of great significance to promoting the friendly relations and cooperation as well as international peace, stability and development. The two countries set up the comprehensive strategic partnership…""Based on that, we welcome and attach great importance to Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna's visit," the spokesman said.
