Exorcism dance evolves over 1,000 years in Tibet

The "Zhuo dance" is a kind of exorcism dance in Tibet. "Zhuo" means "lucky" in Tibetan. "Zhuo dance" is actually a kind of waist drum dance. The dancer should carry the drum on his waist while drumming and dancing.

In fact, "zhuo dance" is a religioius ceremony dance originally which has the religious function of expelling the evil spirit. Later, it has become the popular folk dance in Tibetans.

According to Gesangpingcuo, a teacher in Acadamy of Fine Arts in Tibet University, the origin of "Zhuo dance" dates back to the ancient times when the Bonism was popular. Many sutras of Bonism have recorded the "Zhuo Dance."
