Forest resources of eco-tourism in Tibetan Plateau

There are abundant forest resources in Tibetan Plateau, the roof of the world. The result of statistical calculation shows that 14, 626, 500 hectare of forest area covered the whole Tibet autonomous Region(TAR).

In Nyingchi Prefecture, the southeastern TAR, the forest coverage rate reached 46.09%. In addition to the Northeast of China and Yunnan province, Nyingchi Prefecture listed No. three among China's largest forest area.

Almost in the original state, forests inside Nyingchi Prefecture are the important one of several original forests.

"Previously, people cut down trees on the mountains to make money. But now, we no longer rely on cutting trees to lead lives. We are looking for vegetable production, distinctive agriculture undertakings, family-owned hotels and other ways to become rich," Said Nyima, the director of Gyeldenggar village committee in Bayi.

The result of statistical calculation shows that in 2009, 1.1 million tourists home and aboard visited Nyingchi Prefecture. The general income of tourism industry was 8 billion yuan. Each family in Nyingchi Prefecture received 7353 yuan of increased income.
