The Tourism Promotion Conference between China's Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and Nepal was held in Lhasa, capital city of TAR recently.
China's TAR will strengthen the cooperation in tourist development with Nepal through joint promotion sales and explore the possibility to open the one-day tours in the border areas.
"To promote the exchanges and cooperation in tourist industry between China's TAR and Nepal, we will probe for the feasibility to open one-day tours in Zham and other border areas with reference to the successful experience of border tourism from other provinces," said Wang Songping, vice chairman of the Tourism Department of TAR.
"In 2009, altogether 15,000 Chinese tourists traveled to Nepal. Meanwhile, a great number of tourists from different countries came to China through Nepal. The tourist exchanges between China and Nepal has achieved win-win results,” said Naindra Upadhaya, general consul of the Nepalese Consulate in Lhasa.
According to the General Consul, the Nepalese government has designated 2011 as "National Tourism Year" aiming to attract 1 million tourists including 100,000 tourists from China.
