The local workers are busy constructing the Tashilhunpo Monastery, July 23.
With a total investment of 118 million yuan, the maintenance projects of the Tashilhunpo Monastery started on April 18, 2008. At present, the construction is well underway including Qamba Buddha Palace, the memorial hall and holy stupas for the 4th Panchen Lama, Coqen Palace, Gangyur Palace, the 2,600-meter-long monastery walls as well as the gates of monastery.
Tashilhunpo Monastery, meaning "auspicious Sumeru" in Tibetan lanugage is located at the foot of Nyima Mountain in the northwest of Xigaze County. Founded in 1447 AD，the monastery covers a total area of 237,000 square meters. Since 1713, the monastery has been the residence of the following Panchen Lamas.
