Ngari maintains stable economic development momentum

Since the beginning of 2010, Ngari Prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) has enjoyed sound economic growth with the operation of the Gunsa Airport, the readjusted structure of grass planting industry and the integration of the advantageous recourses.

In the first half of 2010, its total output value amounted to 654 million yuan with an increase of 12.6% year on year; the financial revenue totalling 32.07 million yuan with an annual increase of 25.27%; the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 9,603 yuan with an increase of 9.5% compared to the same period of 2009.

In addition, the structure of grass planting industry was further optimized with the cultivation area covering 5,765.5 hectares, 1.14 times over the same period of 2009.

In the first half of 2010, the production value of the agricultural and animal husbandry has increased continuously. The total weight of meat production was 2,404.3 tons with an increase of 2.43% compare to the same period of 2009; the total weight of milk production was 3,507.3 tons, up 2% over the same period of 2009; and the gross output value of farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery reached 85.11 million yuan, increasing 3.01% over the same period in 2009.

In Ngari, tourism developed rapidly with couples of indexes hitting new high in historical records. In the first half year of 2010, 24,341 domestic and foreign tourists visited Ngari with an increase of 67.9%compared to the same period in 2009; and the revenue of the tourist industry amounted to 25.0922 million yuan risen by 50.5%compared to the same period in 2009.

The investment of fixed assets increased rapidly totaling 64.331 million yuan with an increase of 5.0% year on year.

The prices of commodities maintained stable with a vigorous consumer market. In the first half of 2010, the total sales volume of consumer products amounted to 183.58 million yuan up 15.1% that of 2009.
