Local residents are selecting barley moon cakes at a local supermarket, Sept. 20, photo taken by Jan from China Tibet Online.

With the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, various kinds of moon cakes become available at the supermarkets of Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autunomous Region(TAR).

"This year, traditional moon cakes made outside TAR are not selling well, but barley moon cakes made locally are quite popular. We can sell about 300 to 400 ones per day," said Zhang Haiying, a salesman at the Sifang Supermarket located on Beijing Middle Road of Lhasa.

"Our barley moon cakes consist of 6 kinks of flavors in their fillings including regular, yak meat, peanut, sugar free, coconut and taro," Zhang added. "It is the first time we have moon cakes made in Tibetan style, but tourists and local Tibetans prefer to taste the new moon cakes."
