Tibet estimates to invest 26 bln yuan in transportation construction

According to the Transport Department of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), TAR estimated to have accomplished an investment of 26 billion yuan in transportation construction during the 11th Five-Year Plan period.

The investment accounted for 129.35% of the total investment, higher than the total investment of fifty-five years from 1950 to 2005.

The total mileage of roads in TAR increased from 43,717 kilometers to 58,000 kilometers during the 11th Five-Year Plan period.

The mileage of high-level roads reached 32048.85 kilometers from 10,905 kilometers.

The paved roads covered up to 8,194.53 kilometers from 3,288 meters.

The road density per hundred square kilometers has increased from 3.56 to 4.8.

All of the villages and townships have access to roads, and the villages set up with the approval of provincial and municipal-level authorities accessible to roads increased from 68.7% to 81.24%.

The mileage of road maintenance increased from 39,300 kilometers to 51,380 kilometers.

In 2010, TAR accomplished the largest number of investment in road construction with an estimated investment of 7.3 billion yuan, up 21.67% compared to the same period of 2009.

Altogether 670 million yuan was invested in the roads linking 52 administrative villages in five towns.
