Tibet to set up warning system to ensure safe drinking water
16:48, November 19, 2010

Tibet Autonomous Region in the southwest of China plans to set up a warning system over local water resources to ensure the safety of drinking water, according to the Environmental Protection Department of Tibet.

The warning system will be used to supervise the water sources of drinking water and issue water quality monitoring information on a regular basis in a move to ensure the security of drinking water.

During the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), a total of 79 water sources of drinking water have been regulated as water source protection area under effective protection.

Besides, the region will double its effort to further enhance the safety of drinking water, considered as an important part of people's livelihood within the following five years.
