Consumption and trade boost Shigatse's economy

Shigatse's economy booms in 2010 thanks to its flourishing domestic market and fruitful border trade.

In 2010, the total export & import volume of Shigatse has hit 54.5998 million dollars, 8.78% higher than the previous year, contributing to 4.23% of its total GDP. The 40.8591 million dollar export amount included 30.4936-million-dollar self-manufactured products and 320,000 livestock, realizing 142-million-yuan revenue.

Referring to the domestic market, some commercial projects and programs have been implemented, which have played important roles in the region's domestic economic development. For example, the Village Markets Project has resulted in the establishment of 226 village groceries and 2 commodity distribution centers in Lhatse County and Shigatse. The local commerce department launched the "Double Hundreds Project", building two new networks and 10 county-level standardized farm markets.

In 2010, the regions retail consumption volume achieved 3.75 billion yuan, up by 23.36%. The local government will still take advantage of the consumption and trade to keep its economic momentum.
