Devotees celebrate Butter-lamp Festival of Tibetan Buddhism

The Butter-lamp Festival falls on the 25th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar every year commemorates Tsong Khapa, the founder of the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Since the 24th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar every year, butter-lamps are lit in all temples of Gelug sect where devotees offer butter lamps and read scriptures for blessing.
