Tibet’s Red Cross Society raises money for Sichuan quake

(China Tibet Online)

The Red Cross Society of China Tibet Branch made an immediate response to deploy the rescue work after the severe earthquake jolted Ya’an city, Sichuan Province, on April 20.

A working group on earthquake relief was set up to take charge of raising social donations to help the disaster relief work.

The Tibet Branch called on the society to give a helping hand to the earthquake victims. Money donation is strongly suggested at present because the blocked traffic has added the difficulty of delivering materials to the quake-hit area.

In the meanwhile, a group of 30 medical staff from the Tibet Fukang Hospital is now on call and ready to head for the quake-hit area whenever assistance is needed.

A donation ceremony will be held on April 22, raising money from the staff of the Red Cross Society of China Tibet Branch.
