Tibetan singer wins 3rd prize in national Young Singers Contest 2013

Tsering Yangzom, a Tibetan singer won the third place in the national Young Singers Contest 2013 Final in the category of "folk songs" organized by the China Central Television on May 18, according to cntv.cn.

Tsering Yangzom is the only Tibetan singer who won such an honor in this contest. The song brought her the title was "The Sky Road", a beautiful song well-known in China describing the joy of Tibetans who saw the Qinghai-Tibet Railway built up from Beijing to their home.

"It was my first time to attend this singing contest. I was so lucky to have such an opportunity to get instructions from so many judges," said Yangzom. "I will continue to sing for Tibetans, and for people of all country."

Originally from the Gongkar County of Lhoka Prefecture, Tsersing Yangzom is already a famous singer in Tibet Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe. Her success will never be possible without the support of her family and colleagues.

Her husband, Dradul, who also participated in the contest but didn't make it into the final in the Pop Songs Category preferred to stay and take good care of her all the way till the final. Pleasantly,Yangzom made 98 percent of her tests correct in the test item of Rhythm, which won warm applause from the audience.

Her 3-year-old daughter and the family were sitting together in front of the TV during the contest and cheered up for her. And her colleagues raised up their glasses when hearing that she won the third prize.

The contest started on April 1, 2013. Altogether 120 singers attended the contest, and only 36 taking up about 30 percent of all the candidates were selected as topnotch singers, accoridng to cntv.cn.

The CCTV Young Singers Contest has, for the past 15 years, provided a launch pad for many a successful singing career, according to the report of CCTV. And it has made many young singers fulfill their dream to be famous singers in China.
