SYDNEY, June 3 (People’s Daily Online) -- Jointly sponsored by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas, China Tibet Online (, Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, organized by Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China and Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation, the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting and Photography Exhibition 2013 launched in Canberra, has then moved to the International Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbor Sydney, the three-day exhibition has comprehensively displayed both natural and cultural landscape of Tibet.

More than 500 guests from Australia political, cultural, business, academic and media sectors attended the unveiling ceremony of the exhibition, including Chairman of New South Wales Parliament Asia Pacific Friendship Group Daryl Maguire, representing the Premier of NSW Barry O’Farrell, President of Australia China Business Council Jim Harrowell, and leaders from Chinese community as well.

Chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Lin Jun, Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Australia H.E. Chen Yuming, Consul General of People’s Republic of China in Sydney H.E. Li Huaxin, Chairman of ACPPRC Qiu Weilian delivered their speeches respectively in the ceremony.

Mr. Lin said during his speech, “In the Tibet Autonomous Region, every 100 dollars expenditure spent, 99 dollars come from the Central Government. Only in this Region, all local students received free education, and all high school graduates are allocated employments. All Tibetans receive free medical services, all congenital heart disease children received free treatment, etc. There are many other examples of the preferential policies benefiting Tibetans of all walks of life.”

He said, “People who had visited Tibet all fascinated by the beautiful and majestic landscapes, the bright sun, the feeling of closeness to the sky, etc. In Tibet, we have refreshing clean air, pristine mountains, grasslands and lakes, rare flora and fauna, all these are considered as one of the best protected ecological environment in the world. Here, the air is permeated with incense and other religious practices, it is a holy land of nature and humanity. All these unique natural attractions and human environments have undoubtedly fascinated us and have created an urge to visit Tibet.”

“The most beautiful language cannot beat the attraction of a painting. The exciting words cannot surpass the beauty of a photograph”,Mr. Lin said on the ceremony, “Tibet is always a hot topic for our foreign friends. But regrettably, many friends had not visited Tibet. Hence, there is a great discrepancy between the hearsay Tibet and the real Tibet. This Harmonious and Beautiful Tibet Exhibition will let you see and understand Tibet.”

According to organizers of this event, the "Beauty of Tibet" exhibition displayed a number of influential Chinese contemporary artists, photographer’s fine art, and photographic works. There are 280 works all reflected Tibet’s social change, religion belief, cultural heritage, environmental protection, improving people's livelihood and other aspects. The event will last for two weeks, exhibitions, seminars and feature film screening and other activities will be held in both Sydney and Melbourne. Tibetologist and painters from Tibet and mainland China also exchanged their point of views with the Australian from all circles, topics covered from protection of traditional culture, religion beliefs, Tibet's economic and social development, etc.

After unveiling ceremony, Daryl Maguire accepted an interview from People’s Daily Online Australia. He generously praised the superb exhibits. He said, "These photographs and paintings are very attractive, not only demonstrates a high artistic skill, but also impressed me so much by the beauty had it created. I believe those paintings and photos will surely help Australians to have a quick understand of the Tibetan culture and I encourage more Australians come to visit." Mr. Maguire suggested that more exhibition of its kind should be held in the future to enhance the world's understanding of Tibet.
