Tibet official delegation holds talks with overseas Chinese in Canada

The delegation of Tibetan legislators of the China's National People's Congress (NPC) attended a symposium with more than 20 overseas Chinese in Consulate General of the P.R. China in Toronto, Canada, June 16, 2013, reported by Xinhua.

Padma Choling, head of Tibet delegation, vice secretary, the Party Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region and Director-general of the Standing Committee of the Tibet People's Congress, briefly reviewed the development of Tibet in terms of economy, medical treatment and public health, education, and cultural undertaking based on a host of data and facts.

Meanwhile, the on-going infrastructure project and eco-environmental protection project during the 12th Five Year Plan (2011-2015) are also presented to attendees.

"The Chinese central government assigned four tasks to Tibet, which required us to guarantee the rapid development of Tibet economy, to guarantee the improvement of people’s living standard in Tibet, to guarantee the lasting peace and stability of Tibet, and to guarantee the good ecological environment of Tibet. Unremitting efforts have been made to fulfill these tasks, which have received all supports and love of all ethic groups in Tibet," said Padma Choling.

Representatives of the Tibet official delegation answered overseas Chinese's and students' questions on Tibet, including nationality and religion. Attendees expressed that they were very happy for all the achievements in Tibet and would continue to facilitate its development and fight against the separatists.

After the tour in Canada, the delegation of Tibetan legislators of the China's National People's Congress will head to the United States for a visit later. Toronto is the first stop in their North America trip.
