A grand realistic drama titled Princess Wencheng is to debut this month in a theme park of the Tibet Cultural and Tourism Creative Park in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, according to People's Daily.

The drama narrates the stories about Princess Wencheng in China's Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.) and her marriage with Songtsan Gampo, king of Tubo Kingdom in ancient Tibet over 1, 300 years ago.

Historically, their marriage promoted the economic and cultural progress in ancient Tibet and strengthened the Han-Tibetan ties. And their stories have been widespread among Han and Tibetan people from generation to generation.

With an investment of 750 million yuan (122.3 million US dollars), the drama is the largest in China in terms of investment and scale. At present, the performance venue is finished, and the platform is in construction phase.

"The city of Lhasa will strive to create high-quality tourism and cultural products, promoting the development and prosperity of Tibetan culture," said Jia Mowei, deputy secretary of municipal Party committee of Lhasa.
