Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, strives to allocate 550 million yuan for over 50,000 people to shake off poverty in the next 5 years, news from Lhasa Poverty Relief Work Conference.
Statistics shows that Lhasa reports altogether 15,786 households and 62,807 people in poverty. The 12th Five-Year Plan has put poverty relief for 32,890 people as the top priority,as well as 20,969 more poor locals.
To achieve the goal, Lhasa plans to set up 426 poverty-alleviation projects, leveraging on various unique industries, including dairy, vegetable and flower planting. Also key enterprises will be supported and a chain of agricultural produce processing will take into shape. Such endeavors aim to achieve industrialized operation and increase the income of farmers and herders to a great extent.
