Tibet Airlines, the first local airline in Tibet Autonomous Region, is expected to launch its flight routes from Lhasa to Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu of Sichuan Province within 2011, said the company on April 26.
The first aircraft A319 ordered by Tibet Airlines is due for delivery in July when the Lhasa-Beijing flight is launched, said Liu Yanping, general manager of Tibetan Airlines.
The other two aircrafts ordered will be delivered in August and September respectively for the planned Lhasa-Shanghai and Lhasa-Chengdu routes.
Tibet Airlines, Tibet’s only native airline, is also the first airline company across the country approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China to be based at Lhasa’s Gonggar Airport.
Meanwhile, the company has set up a supply zone and a service base at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport for its dual-base operation to adapt to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau's complicated geographical and meteorological conditions.
