They studied the history, culture, natural environment, religion and folk life of the Zangniang area as well as the classification, worship, manufacturing process and tools of Tangka paintings, and the inheritance of Tangka artists.

The "From Beichuan to Yushu" – Successful Outcomes of Cultural Heritage Rescue in Earthquake-stricken Areas Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People on May 12. Feng Jicai, president of the China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, said with deep feeling at the conference that earthquakes do not purposely hit areas with rich cultural heritage, but the fact that rescuers discovered a great deal of cultural heritage in every quake-stricken area has undoubtedly displayed China's deep cultural roots, and has reminded us of the heavy responsibility to protect and rescue our traditional culture.

Representatives from Beichuan County received from the organizer the "Chinese-Qiang Language Dictionary" and two volumes of the "White Stone Shibi and the Qiang People" at the conference, and representatives from Yushu County received the Yushu Zangniang volume of "The Collection of Tangka Paintings." The leaders and experts present at the conference were highly complimentary about the outcomes of cultural heritage protection and rescue conducted by the cultural circles.
