Four monks receive highest Tibetan Buddhism degree

Four monks from Lhasa Sera Monastery, Zhaibung Monastery and Ganden Monastery have received the highest degree for Tibetan Buddhism, Geshe Lharampa in front of the bronze statue of Sakyamuni in the Jokhang Temple on February 24.

A Geshe Lharampa degree represents the highest academic degree for the Gelugba School of Tibetan Buddhism. It will be conferred on those monks who finished Buddhism study and won the Buddhist scripture debating. Up to now, another 22 monks have got this degree since the resume of this Tibetan Buddhism academic exam in 2005.
