Laga Mountain also takes important role in Tibetan Buddhism. The Zhandan Temple, located in the White Dragon Crossing River drainage area, was established during the Tang Dynasty and is one of the most important temples of Gelug in Tibetan Buddhism.
According to local lore, there used to be a kingdom of women here. Historical records also support the claim that there was a female ruler living here thousands of years ago.
