Iodine detected in all provinces in China except Tibet
08:44, April 06, 2011

As Japanese Prime Minister, Naoto Kan, makes his first visit to the country's tsunami-devastated region, official sources confirm that contaminated water is seeping from the second reactor at Fukushima into the sea. According to the Japanese news agency, Kyodo, efforts are underway to contain the tainted water.

Meanwhile, radioactive iodine has been found at slightly higher levels than normal in the air across most parts of China. Government officials say, besides China's Tibet Autonomous Region, radioactive material has been discovered in all provinces, but poses no health risks.
