08:32, April 19, 2011

In this February, twelve young Tibetans from Dingkye County of southwest Tibet's Shigatse Prefecture set out to Sichuan Province to learn bamboo-weaving craftsmanship.

As known, Dingkye County is naturally abundant in bamboo resources. To make better use of such advantage, a selected group of young people were sent to Qingshen County, the famous city of bamboo arts, in Sichuan Province.

The three-month training program was conduct at the training base of International Central for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) in Qingshen County, where the young people were taught bamboo-weaving skills.

When coming back to Dingkye, they were expected to advance the development of bamboo products industry for the benefits of Dingkye locals.
