Tibet Airlines plans multiple domestic routes
08:58, May 03, 2011

The Tibet Airlines "April Spring" Tourism Industry conference, which was hosted by Tibet Tourism Bureau and organized by Tibet Airlines Company, was held recently in Lhasa.

Tibet Airlines is expected to commence operations in July 2011. It will be based in Lhasa Gonggar Airport and will focus on air routes between Lhasa and major Chinese cities. The airline is planning to launch three routes in 2011: to Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu. If these are successful, it will then consider launching three new routes in 2012: to Nyingchi, Xigaze, and Nagqu.

Wang Songping, the vice director of Tibet Tourism Bureau, said Tibet Airlines and the tourism industry will complement each other in the future, in addition to promoting the local economy.
