Yumbu Lhakhang, the first palace ever built in Tibet, is located on the top of Zhaixi Ceri Hill on the east bank of the Yalong River, around ten minutes' drive southeast to the Lhoka Prefecture, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
According to a legend of followers of the Bon Religion, Yumbu Lhakhang Palace was erected in the second century BC for the first Tibetan king Nitri Tsampo, who was believed to descend from the sky.
